India won the series 2–1 with a strong smile over Australia.

Cameron Green started well for Australia, while Tim David ended the innings well and Australia set India a target of 186/7. Daniel Sams made a good impact in the very first over and dismissed KL Rahul with a short ball strategy. And Virat, in partnership with Suryakumar Yadav, cleared India’s intention to win and sealed the deal for Australia.

His game was at the top after the powerplay as he kept the run rate under control. And ensured a boundary in every over. Wickets fell, but both the batsmen did not move. Bhuvneshwar Kumar struggled, but Axar Patel again dominated the match, taking 3 for 33 in 4 overs. Chahal, who bowled in those three overs, conceded only 16 runs, while he also got the wicket of Steven Smith, in which Pandya and Bumrah with Chahal in quiet overs dropped Australia’s scoring rate. Harshal Patel also took 1 in the bowling but gave 18 runs in 2 overs.

MAN OF THE MATCH : Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav said : It is absolute clarity in what he wants to do. He has the game to bat in any conditions. He got a hundred in England, batted beautifully in Asia Cup, the last six months he has been outstanding. He has an array of shots and knows when to play those shots at the right time. He is a guy who knows his game inside out and has no fear whatsoever in trying to execute those shots.

PLAYER OF THE SERIES : Akshar Patel

Indian captain Rohit Sharma said :This is a special place. We have very good memories playing for India and when I played for Deccan Chargers as well. The biggest positives were individual moving forward and delivering. You feel good about it as a management. There is less scope for error in T20. We grabbed the opportunity, we were brave too. Sometimes it doesn’t come off. There are also areas to improve. It’s not easy to come back after a break against a tough team. They (Bumrah and Harshal) will take some time. Hopefully in the next series he will be back in his groove.

Virat Kohli said about the match : I have to utilise my experience and give the team what they want. I had to take down Zampa because he is important through the middle. When Surya started hitting them, I looked at Rohit and Rahul bhai in the dug out and they just told me to bat on because we were building a partnership. As soon as he went away, I tried to take on the first couple of balls, got a six off Cummins and that set me off again.
Australian captain Aaron Finch said: Really good series. The way we came back was wonderful. It really has had such an impact with a young player like Green. We had to get wickets, we can’t beat India by being in control. At times we were careless with bat and ball, but playing such a tough series against a world class team will keep the players in good shape. I loved the way he took the game forward with his ultra-aggressive approach
