IND vs ZIM: The fourth T20 international between India and Zimbabwe is underway at Harare Sports Club in Harare. Shubman Gill won the toss and decided to bowl first. India entered the game with a 2-1 lead, and it looks like they will be winning the series on Saturday with a win in the fourth match. Zimbabwe had a brilliant start to the batting as both openers added 63 runs for the opening wicket.
Wessly Madhevere scored 25 runs, while Tadiwanashe Marumani scored 31-ball 32 runs. But apart from the opening stand, Zimbabwe struggled in the middle order. The first breakthrough for India came in the first over of Abhishek Sharma. The all-rounder dismissed Marumani on the fourth ball of the ninth over. With this, Abhishek Sharma also registered his maiden wicket in international cricket for Team India.
IND vs ZIM: Abhishek Sharma creates history and becomes first Indian to do so in T20Is
Abhishek Sharma ended with a figure of 1/20 in his three overs. Zimbabwe finished with 152/7 in 20 obvers with the help of skipper Sikandar Raza’s cameos. He scored 46 runs off 28 balls, with 2 fours and three sixes. Meanwhile, Abhishek, who went for runs in the first few matches with the ball, scripted history.
He wrote his name in the record books and became the first Indian player to achieve a rare record. Abhishek becomes the first Indian player to hit a century and take a wicket in the same T20I series. He smashed a 46-ball ton in the second game and scored 100 off 47 with seven fours and 8 sixes.
With this, he has achieved a special feat for India in the T20 internationals. It has been pretty good competition for the top order position. Abhishek has done well, as have Yashavi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Ruturaj Gaikwad. With Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma retiring from the T20Is, these youngsters have grabbed the opportunity with both hands. India will be playing a T20I series against Sri Lanka next.
Hence, it will be a tough call for the Indian selector to choose the top order for the series, as all have done well so far. The IND vs ZIM series has gone in India’s favour, and they have dominated throughout the series. India won the fourth IND vs ZIM game by ten wickets as India chased 156/0 in just 15.2 overs. Jaiswal scored 83 off 52, and Gill scored 58 off 39. The fifth and final IND vs ZIM T20I will be played at the same venue, Harare Sports Club, on Sunday (July 14).
