IND vs SL: On Thursday, the Indian selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar announced the squads for the coming ODI and T20I series, which start on July 27. 3. Mukesh Kumar
Mukesh Kumar has been part of India’s squad across formats for a while now. He was the leading wicket-taker in the recently concluded T20 series against Zimbabwe. He took 8 wickets in four matches and looked good with new and old balls. But he couldn’t get a chance in the IND vs SL T20 series. India have gone with Khaleel Ahmed, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, and Mohammed Siraj in the T20I squad. It is a bit harsh on Mukesh.
2. Abhishek Sharma
Abhishek Sharma broke into the Indian side after a blistering season in the Indian Premier League for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He also scored a century against Zimbabwe off just 46 balls and couldn’t get many chances at the top. Abhishek also took a couple of wickets and proved his worth as a capable all-rounder who can contribute in all three departments. But despite that promising talent and ability, he couldn’t grab the selector’s attention and was dropped after a decent series.

Ruturaj Gaikwad has been an upcoming talent who has performed well in the limited opportunities he has had for India. Gaikwad has the best average (51.20) in T20 internationals since 2023, and he was also one of the top scorers in the series against Zimbabwe. But with Jaiswal and Gill in the squad, India have dropped Gaikwad for the IND vs SL tour. It has shocked many fans who were expecting Gaikwad for ODIs as well. India have picked Riyan Parag in both squads and dropped Gaikwad.
