IND vs BAN: Najmul Hossain Shanto, the Bangladesh skipper, exclaimed how the team’s high confidence after their thumping win against Pakistan helped them to up their morale. The skipper expressed how he looks forward to taking this belief into the India tour.
Bangladesh’s biggest win in the history of red-ball cricket came for the first time in 24 years when they won two successive matches at Rawalpindi, against the home side of Pakistan. The skipper said that this was when Bangladesh lifted the spirits of the game, and hence they would be confident during their red ball tour to India.
“The next time we play, I don’t know about the result, but we will surely have the belief that we can win. I said the same thing in the press conference on the first day [when asked about Bangladesh’s dismal record in Pakistan] that records are meant to be broken. It was from my belief after seeing how hard the players worked,” he added.
The first match of the series saw special performances from Mushfiqur Rahim, who performed extremely well with his iconic 191-run innings that secured the Bangladesh innings. The second innings was when Bangladesh’s top spinners, Shakib and Mehidy, picked up eight wickets between them to lead Bangladesh to their first-ever victory against Pakistan.
Bangladesh will tour India this month for a two-match red ball series, which will be followed by a three-match T20I series as well. They will play their first game at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, while the next will be played at Kanpur.

Bangladesh secured their best performance against India when they were chasing a wonderful 145 where India struggled 74/7. It was then Ravi Ashwin came to bat in at no. 9 and, alongside Shreyas Iyer, put on a 71-run partnership for the 9th wicket, which finally led to India’s victory.
Miraz emerged as the MVP for Bangladesh cricket as he scored eminent half-centuries for Bangladesh whenever his team needed him to, while also picking wickets on multiple occasions. In a track like India as well, he and Litton will seem to be helpful for the side.
