IND vs BAN: The Indian team won the first T20I in the series against Bangladesh. Another time in the history of the Indian team, Suryakumar Yadav began another campaign with a thumping victory, as India chased down a target of 128 in just 12 overs.
Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and elected to bowl, as the visitors were pushed to bat first. Indian T20 star Arshdeep Singh and all-rounder Hardik Pandya shared the new ball, as Arshdeep made the best start he could dismissing the two openers, consisting of the amazing breakthrough of Litton Das.
The other two ace batters included Najmul Hossain Shanto and Towhid Hridoy who started to build on a partnership for Bangladesh, as Varun Chakravarthy made a comeback after 3-years of absence from international cricket.
Chakravarthy even remarked that this seemed like a rebirth for him, as the bowler in the ending spell of his match had amazing figures with 3 wickets giving away just 16 runs in 3 overs. Chakravrathy alongside India’s debutant and much-anticipated fast bowler, Mayank Yadav rocked the Bangladesh middle-order and shattered their dreams.
Despite Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s semblance of an innings, joint efforts from the Indian bowling deck impressed all to resist Bangladesh to a timid score of 127, thus putting in a target of 128 runs in front of the Indian lineup.
The new batting pair of young Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson came into bat, and Sharma gave them the momentum India never seemed to need in this match. After Sharma went for a short cameo of 16, Sanju and skipper SKY took the innings forward.
The captain scored 29 of just 14 balls, as his madness came to an end with Bangladesh veteran Mustafizur Rahman picking up his wicket. Debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy who went wicketless with the ball, scored a 15-ball 16 runs, while Hardik Pandya was the real showstopper, as he smashed 39 runs with 16-balls, as he batted with a strike rate of 243 and ended the innings with a huge six over mid-wicket.
