ICC Test Bowling Rankings: Star players of India and Pakistan on new career heights after the latest update in ICC rankings. Know about them.: Several star players from India and Pakistan have scaled new career heights in the latest MRF Tires ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings as the race for bragging rights and the No. 1 spot intensifies for batsmen.
Pakistan’s performance against Sri Lanka: Pakistan made an impressive start to the new ICC World Test Championship cycle when they registered a four-wicket win over Sri Lanka in Galle, and the player of the match was Saud Shakeel, who scored a brilliant double century. In his sixth Test match.
Shakeel’s exploits with the bat saw him rise 12 places to 15th and earn a career-best rating in the current Test batting rankings, which are still dominated by New Zealand veteran Kane Williamson, while several of his Pakistan colleagues also achieved individual records for best scores.
All-rounder Agha Salman jumped 17 ranks to 58th overall for hitters, while youthful seamer Naseem Shah (up one spot to 44th) and inexperienced spinner Abrar Ahmed (up 12 spots to joint 45th) set new highs on the list for Test bowlers following outstanding performances against Sri Lanka.
While Sri Lanka narrowly lost the first Test at home, spinner Prabath Jayasuriya jumped seven places to seventh overall on the list of bowlers after taking seven wickets in the match.
Following his side’s draw in the second Test against the West Indies in Trinidad, in-form India seamer Mohammed Siraj rose to a new career-high rating, leaping six places to 33rd overall on the list for bowlers.
Siraj took a five-wicket haul for the West Indies in the first innings of that match, while opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 57 and 38 in his second Test to reach a new career-high 63rd position in the batsmen’s list.
Mohammad Siraj is leading India’s Bowling attack: Jaiswal still has some room to make up on the world’s top hitters, with Williamson still leading the way despite some of his closest rivals making some eye-catching progress following the conclusion of the fourth Ashes Test in Manchester.
After his century at Old Trafford, Australia right-hander and former No.1 rated hitter Marnus Labuschagne jumped three places to second overall, while England trio Joe Root (up three slots to third), Harry Brook (up two places to 11th), and Zac Crawley (up 13 places to 35th) all made gains.
From an Ashes perspective, England pacemen Mark Wood (up three places to 23rd) and Chris Woakes (up five places to 31st) were the big movers in the Test bowlers’ list, with Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin still in the first place. South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada is second in the table, and Australia captain Pat Cummins is third. Let’s have a look into the bowler ranking record.
