Shubman Gill, the young Indian cricket player, stands out for his smooth batting style and cool attitude. His skills have helped him make big steps in international cricket at a young age. He’s one of India’s brightest stars and shows what new Indian cricket looks like—mixing talent, hard work, and a strong desire to win.

In a recent chat, the young batter spoke about his recent tough times in Test cricket. He said it’s been tough to stay steady and turn good starts into big scores, which matter a lot in the longest type of cricket game.

“Red-ball batting is a concern. Sometimes, I think with the red ball, in the matches that I play, I get very good 25-30 runs. I think in those moments, sometimes I put too much pressure on myself to be able to score big runs. I think that is not the way that I have grown up playing my game.”

Shubman Gill stated

He added, “There is a certain zone that I am in, certain intent that I am in and sometimes I think I lose that because I put too much pressure on myself that I have to get big runs now that I am set. I think in those crucial moments, I sometimes lose my focus and concentration. I think it keeps you in the game all the time.”

Even with his great talent and potential, he said the journey hasn’t been easy. He stressed that he needs to focus more, be more patient, and change how he plays to do well at the highest level. In the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Shubman Gill started his innings well but had trouble turning these good starts into a big score for the team.

The young right-handed batsman led Punjab as captain in his return to the Ranji Trophy, taking on Karnataka at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. In the first innings, Shubman Gill didn’t do well, loosely giving away his wicket for just 4 runs in 8 balls.

In the second inning, the skilled batsman showed his talent by scoring a century and carrying Punjab’s hopes. He made 102 runs from 171 balls, playing with focus and grit, holding the innings together for his team, and proving he can build a strong knock under pressure.

This inning shows he’s back in form and comes at a key time, as it gets him ready for the upcoming ODI series against England, which helps him prepare for the Champions Trophy. His strong showing in the Ranji Trophy gives him the boost he needs to do well on the world stage.
