Royal Challengers Bangalore have made a few updates to their all-inclusive IPL 2021 squad. The few noteworthy changes include Wanindu Hasranga in place of Australian Adam Zampa who pulled out of the second leg of the IPL. The next change made is Dusmantha Chameera in place of Kane Richardson. Australian Veteran Simon Katich has stepped down from the head coach’s position and the Kiwi maestro Mike Hesson replaces him. MIke was initially associated with RCB as the director of cricketing operations. Here’s a look at what the support staff and members had to say: –
Here’s what Mike Hesson said while talking to the press: –
“Some significant changes in our playing squad, from an overseas perspective, due to player unavailability and, indeed, a reshaping of our overseas contingent” Mike quoted.
“Finn Allen and Scott Kuggeleijn have been selected for New Zealand tours, and they won’t be part of RCB. Kane Richardson has made himself unavailable, as has Daniel Sams, so the balance of our squad has changed dramatically. So, we have obviously gone about making purchases during the replacement window, which opened up about four or five days ago. A lot of preparation has gone into that.” This was what Hesson said when asked about the reasons for making changes in the squad.
When enquired about why Hasaranga was chosen Hesson replied, “One thing we can say is we have replaced Adam Zampa with Wanindu Hasaranga. Certainly, delighted to have Hasaranga on board,” Hesson said. “He gives us some balance, obviously from a wrist-spin point of view and also plenty of batting capability.”
About the other two changes this is what Hesson had to say, “Chameera, another Sri Lankan, he is bowling extremely supreme at the moment. I know him decently well, having coached against him. He’s certainly got genuine pace and also his white-ball game has grown significantly over the last few years,” Hesson answered. “With Finn Allen leaving, we have decided to add our middle-order possibilities, in terms of options, so Tim David has joined our squad.
Who is Wanindu Hasarnaga?
He has played 26 ODIs and 22 T20Is for the Srilanka national team and is relatively a senior in a young crop of players. Wanindu Hasranga came to the front after performing exceptionally well against India in the recently concluded T20 series. His figures of 4-9 in his quota of 4 overs showed his exquisite abilities. In the 3 games, Hasaranga played all and picked a total of 7 wickets. Hasaaranga has been surprisingly ranked number 2 in the world rankings in the T20 format. Hasaranga can significantly contribute with the bat as well and adds balance to the RCB team.
Who is Dusmantha Chameera?
Chameera is a Srilankan National player. His express pace is what makes him a regular in the Srilankan squad. He as of now has played 34 ODIs and 28 T20Is. The express pace attribute of his, Chameera adds an important forte. He can form a formidable bowling pair alongside Navdeep Saini.
