Former Indian spinner Pravin Tambe, the man known for his legacy and determination for the game, who went on to play across various global T20 leagues despite having made his debut so late in his career, has a new high in his career after being appointed the bowling coach of the Gujarat Giants. The veteran bowler can become a key asset in the management for changing the fortunes of the side. His experience can be a key aspect of the franchise.
The leg spinner made his Indian Premier League debut for the Rajasthan Royals at the age of 41, scripting history as one of the oldest players to debut in the league, showcasing that age is just a number in the pursuit of passion and excellence. Later, Tambe was also a part of other IPL franchises like Gujarat Lions and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Tambe, at the age of 41 years, marked his IPL debut for the Rajasthan Royals after he switched his career from a batsman to a leg-spin bowler. In his not-so-long yet decorated career, he played in 33 IPL matches and, at a very impressive economy, picked 28 wickets for his side. His journey inspired many, as he defied age and conventional norms to make a mark in one of the world’s most competitive T20 leagues.
Pravin’s coaching experience with the Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants will help the Gujarat Giants, who have not had considerable success as they finished at the bottom of the standings among the five teams in both the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
