The team broke Pakistan’s joint-longest winless streak at home in Tests, after their streak between 1969 and 1975. The 152-run victory at Multan marked Pakistan skipper Shan Masood’s first test win as captain.
Noman Ali and Sajid Khan together picked all 20 wickets across the two innings, as this was the 7th instance in test cricket. The previous six such instances were shared by two bowlers back in 1972.
Noman Ali and Sajid Khan both became the third pair to have picked 7-wicket hauls in a match after the previous two pairs, McKay and Lindwall in 1956 and McGrath and Kasprowicz in 1997.
The two spinners also become the third bowling fair from the Pakistan side to have bowled out the opposition bowling without a change in spell. Also, Noman Ali, 38 years, 8 days, became the second oldest player to have picked an 8-wicket haul after Sri Lankan veteran Rangana Herath.
After Abdul Qadir’s 9-56, Noman Ali’s 8-46 turns the second-best bowling figures for Pakistan in tests. This was Pakistan’s first unchanged bowling pair to have bowled out the opposition unchanged.
