ENG vs AUS: England announce squad for ODIs and T20Is for the home series against Australia
In the last year, England have found themselves struggling in white-ball formats as they couldn’t defend the ODI World Cup title and T20 World Cup title. As a result, Matthew Mott was sacked from his role as white-ball head coach.
Hence, Trescothick has been given the responsibility as interim coach, and five new faces will be joining the team for the coming ENG vs AUS white-ball home series. In T20Is, Dan Mousley and Jordan Cox have been given the chance.
On the other hand, all-rounder Jacob Bethell, pacer John Turner, and left-armer Josh Hull are part of both squads. However, dropping vice captain Moeen Ali has made a statement. The 37-year-old has struggled, and his age is another factor as England are trying to revamp their white-ball structure.
Bethell and Mousley also offer spin all-round role like Moeen. Meanwhile, Bairstow, who lost his Test spot, will be making way for youngsters in the white-ball ENG vs AUS series as well. Veteran pacer Chris Jordan is another notable player from the T20 squad who is missing, while Jofra Archer is part of both squads. However, Joe Root is another name who is missing in ODIs.
