ENG vs AUS: Australia have begun their quest into the European continent with the Scotland tour, as they made several records in the opening match of the series. They played invincible cricket at Edinburgh, as Head scored the fastest innings for most, 73 runs in the powerplay also posting T20I’s highest-ever powerplay total and the fastest chase in the history of the shortest format of the game.

English skipper, Jos Buttler has been ruled out of contention in England’s T20I series for now against the Australians while next, he could go on to miss a part of the ODI series as well. He was preparing for the Hundred in July when he sustained a calf injury from which he could not recover as he had a major setback recently.

He was expecting to make a comeback, so that, he could be a part of the Vitality quarter-final clash, however, he was ruled out of contention for the T20I series. He was last seen in the T20 World Cup for England in June, and since then he has missed the summer due to injury.

Phil Salt who has also emerged as one of England’s most consistent performers in the T20s, went on to be named as England’s T20I skipper. He was also seen as the Manchester Originals skipper as he replaced Buttler in the franchise as well.

While, if Buttler misses a part of the ODI series as well, England is expecting him lately to play a role in the series, Harry Brook, his likely deputy will be spearheading the team in the ODIs.

Jamie Overton has been named as Jos Buttler’s replacement in the squad, though the all-rounder will be seen playing more as a batsman due to his status of recovering from an injury. Jordan Cox, the Test player has been moved to the ODI team as a backup as well to cope as Buttler’s deputy.

Earlier, Brendon McCullum was announced as England’s white-ball coach alongside being their red-ball coach, as his twin role could assist the ECB a lot. Buttler turns 34 and has had 3 calf injuries in the last 4 years, and so that he can serve as an international cricketer he must avoid too much of a wicket-keeping role.
