Duleep Trophy Round 2: Changes made to the Squads of the Teams due to the upcoming Bangladesh series

The second round of the Duleep Trophy is to commence today, as Team A will now take on Team D and Team B will take on Team C, with both matches to be played at Anantapur on different stadiums.

Many of the crucial players who were part of the first round of the iconic domestic trophy have been released before the second round due to selection in the home test series against Bangladesh, which will begin on the 19th of this month at Chepauk.

Players like Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Yash Dayal, Dhruv Jurel, Kuldeep Yadav, Shubman Gill, and Yashasvi Jaiswal have been released due to international duty. Replacements for such players have been announced.

Skipper Shubman Gill, middle-order batter KL Rahul, and wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel will miss the proceedings for the India A squad. Instead of these players, Pratham Singh, Akshay Wadkar, and S Rasheed have been added to the squad for the second round.


Mumbai left-arm spinner Shams Mulani replaced the great Kuldeep Yadav from the side, while also UP boards’ Aaqib Khan came in place of the brilliant Akash Deep, who took 9 wickets in the first round.

India B’s Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant have been replaced by two best of players, Suyash Prabhudessai and Rinku Singh. Though Sarfaraz Khan has also been named in India’s squad, he made himself available for the second round, as young pacer Yash Dayal might be replaced by Himanshu Mantri.

The Team India C has no changes, with none of their players being ruled out or selected for the Indian side. Manav Suthar from Team India C will look to knock on India’s doors following a stunning performance.

India D star all-rounder Axar Patel, who was their stunning performer, has been picked into India’s test series against Bangladesh as he has been replaced by the young and dynamic Nishant Sindhu. Also, India’s Vidwath Kaverappa will replace Tushar Deshpande, who suffered a recent niggle. Sanju Samson might make his return to the Duleep Trophy with the second-round match.
