Duleep Trophy 2024 is all set to get underway in one week, as the first game is scheduled to take place on September 5. Four different teams will face each other in six matches, and the team with the most points at the top will win the tournament.
This coming tournament is marked by the fans because some of the big names like KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Kuldeep Yadav, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, and others are taking part in this tournament.
However, a week ahead of the start of the Duleep Trophy 2024, pacers Mohammed Siraj and Umran Malik have been ruled out of the tournament. On the other hand, veteran star Ravindra Jadeja has withdrawn from the tournament.
Duleep Trophy 2024: Siraj and Umran ruled while Jadeja pulled out of the tournament
It came as a big blow as India are set to host Bangladesh for a two-match Test series in September. That is why most of the Indian stars were picked to play in the coming Duleep Trophy in 2024. However, Mohammed Siraj, who is an important member of the squad, will now miss the coming tournament due to illness.
He, along with Umran, have been ruled out of the tournament due to illness. As per media reports, the BCCI ruled both pacers out as per media advisory. They might not be fit before the start of the tournament. Hence, they won’t take part in it.
As a result, Navdeep Saini and Gaurav Yadav are named as the replacements for India B and India C, respectively. Meanwhile, Jadeja, who was rested on the Sri Lanka tour, has also pulled out of the Duleep Trophy 2024.
He will now be seen in action in the upcoming Bangladesh Test series, which will start on September 19. There is no official replacement announced for the all-rounder yet. But there are some other big names featured in the tournament, preparing for the coming Test season. So, here are the updated squads for the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2024.
