Champions Trophy 2025: The Champions Trophy to be hosted by Pakistan in 2025 will no longer be played in a transfer format but in a hybrid model like the Asia Cup. According to the report of media expert Jagran, Indian matches will be played in the UAE.
It will be the ninth edition of the ICC Champions Trophy, an international cricket tournament for the eight top-ranked One Day International (ODI) men’s national teams, organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC). It will be played between February and March 2025.
There is a possibility that the Champions Trophy schedule will also change as it may clash with other major cricket events like the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had urged the International Cricket Council (ICC) to sign the Champions Trophy 2025 hosting rights agreement with it, stressing that if India opts out due to political and security reasons, Those who refuse to travel to the country citing citation should be compensated.
According to sources, the ICC has identified Pakistan as the host of the tournament, but the global body is yet to sign the crucial hosting agreement with it. PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf and COO Salman Naseer reportedly met the ICC Executive Board in Ahmedabad to discuss hosting the Champions Trophy in Pakistan in February-March 2025.
He stated that PCB officials had informed the ICC that the international organization ought to designate a separate security agency that can communicate with both the Pakistani government and security personnel in the event that India declines to play in Pakistan for security-related concerns.
While many international teams have toured Pakistan in recent years, India has not, their most recent refusal being during the Asia Cup in August–September.
