AUS vs SL: Ever since Pat Cummins took over as the Australian test captain from the hands of Tim Paine back in 2021, Cummins has never missed a single test since then. For the first time, the Australian World Cup-winning captain has decided to prioritize his family first.

The legendary Australian skipper, Pat Cummins, who already aced several records in history with a World Cup as well as a World Test Championship win, has now retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for Australia after almost a decade.

Pat Cummins will likely miss the upcoming tour to the Sri Lankan islands, as he is awaiting the birth of his second child with his wife, spotted 8 months pregnant during the proceedings of the SCG test.

Several reports from the Australian media suggested that Australia’s veteran batter Steve Smith is likely to return in the role of Australia’s test skipper.

Australia’s Predicted Squad for the Sri Lankan Red-Ball Tour

The only replacement from Australia’s squad in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy would probably be the skipper’s absence from the tour to Sri Lanka. Pat Cummins expecting his second child will supposedly not lead Australia, and Steve Smith is likely to take over the captain’s band.

Also, Josh Hazlewood, the injured seamer, has not confirmed his availability for the upcoming series, though his absence would cause some trouble for the Indian pace attack.

Australia will have the likes of their youngsters Nathan McSweeney, Sam Konstas, and new debutant Beau Webster for the upcoming test tour to Sri Lanka.

The Australians have already qualified for the WTC finals and will be defending their title at Lord’s. Hence the likes of Glenn Maxwell and Adam Zampa were being reconsidered for the Australian test side.
