Former West Indian great and legendary all-rounder Dwayne Bravo finally ended his long career as he announced his retirement from all forms of cricket during the ending campaign of the Trinbago Knight Riders.
The multiple-time Chennai Super Kings campaigner has now parted ways with his former franchise and turned the mentor for the Kolkata Knight Riders, as he will replace the great Gautam Gambhir in the defending champions camp.
Ahead of signing a long contract, he met the Knight Riders CEO, Venky Mysore, and confirmed that he will also take charge of other Knight Riders franchises, like Trinbago Knight Riders (CPL), Los Angeles Knight Riders (MLC), and Abu Dhabi Knight Riders (ILT20).
Bravo began his coaching career last year as the leading wicket-taker among franchise teams, as he was seen engaging with the Chennai Super Kings and the Afghanistan Men’s Cricket Team as well during their T20 World Cup campaign in the United States.
“So, with a heavy heart, I officially announce my retirement from the sport. Today, the Champion bids farewell.” said the retiring champion Bravo, as he said injuries and struggle are what his body could not bear any further.
“DJ Bravo joining us is an exciting development,” Mysore said in a statement. “His relentless drive to win, along with his vast experience and deep knowledge, will greatly benefit our franchise and players.”
Bravo will have the likes of Chandrakant Pandit and Bharat Arun, as Abhishek Nayar and ten Doeschate both parted ways with the team alongside Gambhir for the Indian team. This will be his second position in a coaching role, as he was seen as their bowling coach for CSK, and now he moves to KKR as their mentor.

“Having played for and against the Knight Riders in various leagues, I have a lot of respect for how they operate,” Bravo said in a statement. Having played for over 10 franchise teams across several global tournaments and experienced over 500 T20 matches, Bravo is among the finest tacticians when it comes to the shortest format of the game.
