The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction is all set to take place on December 16, and this marquee event will take place in Abu Dhabi. A Total of 1,355 players have registered for the upcoming IPL 2026 mini-auction, and out of these, 45 players have placed themselves in the top bracket of Rs. 2 crore base price.
There are 77 slots available for all 10 franchises, including 31 for overseas players. All the franchises are preparing for aggressive and strategic bidding; however, teams like Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are expected to be quite active in the IPL 2026 Auction.
Kolkata Knight Riders have the biggest purse of Rs. 64.30 crore, while Chennai Super Kings have the second biggest purse of Rs. 43.40 crore for the upcoming IPL 2026 mini-auction. After big players like Andre Russell & Glenn Maxwell skip the auction, the Australian All-rounder Cameron Green is expected to be the hot pick in the IPL 2026 Auction.
Cameron Green – The Most Expensive Buy in 2026?
The Australian young all-rounder Cameron Green is expected to be the most expensive buy in the IPL 2026 Auction. Green has set his base price of Rs. 2 crore for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction.
However, with the IPL’s new “Maximum fee rule”, Cameron Green cannot exceed Rs. 18 crore even if bidding surpasses that amount; the excess amount will go to the BCCI’s player welfare fund.
Big Names Missing: Russell Retires, Maxwell Withdraws
The IPL 2026 mini-auction pool is quite large this year, but some of the big names of the Indian Premier League will not be part of the auction.
