India announces squad for upcoming Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup: The 15-member Indian team has been revealed for the Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup, which will take place in Malaysia from January 18 to February 2, 2025.

Nikki Prasad will captain India in this tournament, while Sanika Chalke will be the vice-captain. The team now includes Bhavika Ahire and Kamalini G as wicketkeepers. In addition, three backup players have been chosen.

India is participating in this tournament as the defending champion. In the first edition held in South Africa in 2023, India won the title under the captaincy of Shefali Verma.

Recent performance

Recently, India performed brilliantly in the Women’s Under-19 T20 Asia Cup and won the title by defeating Bangladesh by 41 runs in the final. In this tournament, G Trisha (159 runs) and Ayushi Shukla (10 wickets) dominated by taking the most runs and wickets respectively. Both these players are also part of the upcoming T20 World Cup team.

U19 T20 World Cup India’s schedule

A total of 16 teams will participate in the T20 World Cup, which have been divided into four groups. India has been placed in Group A along with Malaysia, Sri Lanka and West Indies. India will play its group stage matches at Bayumas Oval in Kuala Lumpur. The team’s first match will be against West Indies on January 19.
