The ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy is witnessing many Indian players on a serious mission to ensure their form ahead of the IPL, as well as the international caps trying to show some promising scope ahead of the Champions Trophy.
The recent game witnessed Indian T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav and CSK all-rounder Shivam Dube playing their first match this season for Mumbai. SKY played under the captaincy of veteran batter Ajinkya Rahane.
After an initial weak start, Surya, who came into bat at no. 4, batted flawlessly alongside the all-rounder Shivam Dube, who made a return to the game after his brief departure owing to the injury sustained that ruled him out of India’s series against Bangladesh and South Africa.
Suryakumar batted flawlessly alongside Dube and took the team total to a huge 192 runs, them having put on 130 runs for the 4th wicket.
Shivam Dube hit an amazing 7 sixes on his return
Shivam Dube arrived on the crease after the dismissal of Shreyas Iyer, IPL’s second-most costly player, who also has had a considerably stunning SMAT season.
Dube seemed confident since the first ball, smashing every ball that came towards him. While, after having scored his fifty and already put on a 100-run partnership alongside SKY, he flared with several sixes in the final two overs of the game.
In his innings of 71* runs, he hit 7 sixes alongside 2 fours, striking at 191. Suryakumar also hit 4 sixes and 7 fours in his inning of 70 runs. This seems to be a good sign for CSK and the middle order.
Eventually, the Services side failed to proceed with the huge total, as they lost the game by 39 runs. Shardul Thakur picked 4 wickets, also being economical, alongside Sam Mulani, who also struck for a 3-fer in the innings.
