The IPL 2025 has been one of the most highly regarded tournaments in terms of global franchise-level competitions around the world. The BCCI recently made the announcement about the mega-auction to be held at Jeddah on the 24th and 25th of November.

While the teams were supposed to announce their retentions by the 31st of October, the likes of many supposed retentions have been released which took them by surprise. On the other hand, many such retentions also seemed very surprising to them.

The English white ball skipper emerges as one of the most vital options for the mega-auction as teams would be in dire need of his services, and would spend any amount for him.

Quinton de Kock

The Protea veteran Wicketkeeper who has been a veteran in the IPL as well, has been released by LSG and his services are an asset to any team who are in need of a wicketkeeper.

Faf du Plessis

The RCB skipper who has had some success with consecutive playoff appearances, Faf will be looked at owing to his form and leadership quality, despite his increasing age.

Glenn Maxwell

The veteran Australian all-rounder, though his form has been unconvincing of his standards, Maxwell’s services are worth admiring.

Mitchell Starc

The costliest player from the mini-auction of 2024, which marked a thumping victory for KKR, Starc the title winner might be travelling back into the mega-auction.

Kagiso Rabada

PBKS have dared to release the likes of legendary quick bowlers. Rabada has always been an asset under Indian conditions and will continue to decorate someone’s bowling deck.

The English all-rounder has been named the current best all-rounder in the limited-overs format of white-ball cricket, and Livingstone’s leg-spin adds to his quality over any other all-rounder from overseas conditions.

Phil Salt

Another major name who made his impact in his debut season with the title winners has been left out of the IPL retentions. Coming back to the mega-auction he will be in high need to feature both as an opening batter and a wicketkeeper as well.

Likes of Overseas Players who have tagged with a Base Price of INR 2 Crores

Some of the greatest names of IPL and World cricket, like Jos Buttler, Steven Smith, Mitchell Starc, and Jofra Archer have been categorised under the tag of INR 2 Crores.

Likes of Englishman Jonny Bairstow, pacer Kagiso Rabada, Glenn Maxwell and two English pace guns Mark Wood and Gus Atkinson have also been tagged high.


Jimmy Anderson the great England pacer who marked his retirement this year after being aged 42 years and acing the longest format with 700+ wickets, is set to enrol his name for the IPL, as he turns his focus towards shorter formats in franchise cricket. Anderson earlier remarked he still thinks he can hand a lot in the game yet.

Anderson has been placed at a base price of INR 1.5 Crores and might be acquired by some team seeking experience.
