Australian veteran cricketer Glenn Maxwell recently, in a podcast interview, shared the incident and angles behind when Virat Kohli had blocked him on the social media platform Instagram.
This incident occurred after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy of 2017, which was when Glenn Maxwell starred for Australia in the longest format. Maxwell mocked Kohli over his injured shoulder, and that led to their strained relationship.
Glenn Maxwell recently gave an interview on a podcast talk show with LiSTNR Sport. He broadened that when he joined the Royal Challengers Bangalore RCB back in 2021, he noticed it on social media after a period of 4 years.
“So, I go to his social media (to) follow him. I didn’t even think about it before that. Never really crossed my mind. I was like, ‘I can’t find him’.
“I’m sure he’s on social media somewhere, so I didn’t think anything of it. Not really that, maybe he wasn’t savvy with Instagram.”
Maxwell said he couldn’t understand why Kohli’s name wasn’t coming up, while someone mentioned, “He might have blocked you,” and Maxwell, amazed, said, “Surely not.”
Maxwell, during the staged incident four years back, had imitated Kohli as he clutched his shoulders and mocked the Indian veteran, which he did not appreciate.
Maxwell also proclaimed that he went to ask Kohli about the incident when Kohli replied back to him, saying that it might be he blocked him when he was disgusted by Maxwell’s mockery of Kohli on the field.
Post this Kohli unblocked him on Instagram, and the two have shared immensely pleasurable experiences on the field, as the two have turned best of friends since then.
