The International Cricket Council, the ICC went on to declare a lump sum of prize money for the forthcoming Women’s T20 World Cup in 2024.
The winners of the T20 World Cup will now be awarded a huge amount of winning prize money, as they will acquire $2.34 million, which is a considerable increase of 134% from the $1 million that Australia Women acquired after winning the 2023 World Cup of the shortest format.
The runners-up will be named to a huge amount of $1.17 million, as this big amount will be credited, which is almost three times more than the previous editions. All four semifinalists have been named to $675,000 in the prize pool.
All 10 teams exiting from the group stage will also receive an amount of $112,500; this has been announced to appreciate their qualification into the main stage of the competition. This will be one of the most generational steps in the history of the game, as this would mark the tournament to be one of the world’s most highly anticipated competitions.
Other than the teams in the final four, all the teams who end in the 5th to 8th position will acquire $270,000, while the two teams at the end of the points table will head home with $135,000 in their pockets.
The ICC T20 World Cup for women’s was started back in 2009 when it was played for the first time in the history of women’s cricket. England women won it in the inaugural season; however, following it, Aussie women have been the only dominating side since then, as they have won 6 of the titles.
The ninth edition of the competition will be held in the UAE, as it was relocated from Bangladesh due to the political unrest in the nation. The 10 teams will participate in the competition, which begins on the 3rd of October in Sharjah. The Indian women will begin their hunt against Pakistani women on the 6th of October.
Also, the defending champion Aussie women will be in the quest for their 7th title and another set of consecutive titles as they initiate their campaign from the 5th of October against Sri Lanka.
