India’s former test batter, VVS Laxman has decided to extend his term as head of the National Cricket Academy(NCA) in Bengaluru for at least a year. His earlier contract, which he signed replacing the maestro Rahul Dravid, was initially extended up to September this year.
Laxman was previously pursued by IPL franchises with the offer of being their head coach, which now doesn’t seem likely due to his NCA duties. At the NCA he is likely to resolve his duties alongside coaches Shitanshu Kotak, Sairaj Bahutule, and Hrishikesh Kanitkar, all of whom are iconic names in domestic cricket.
The latest new facility, the new state-of-the-art NCA campus on the outskirts of Bengaluru on the land, was sanctioned by the Karnataka government for 14 years for a 99-year lease.
During his first three years of the term at the NCA, Laxman has set high standards as he has shown robust procedures for injury management and coaching programs and has also promoted immensely for age groups as well as women’s cricket.
The latest new facility has a huge infrastructure, with a huge lot of 100 pitches, indoor facilities, a modern rehab, Olympic-sized pools, and international-sized grounds while the NCA is in its final stages of construction. The one that is to be inaugurated in the upcoming year will find Laxman having a contract extension before the period.
