Yashasvi Jaiswal registers a special landmark in international cricket. Team India registered a thumping win over Sri Lanka in the second T20 international on Sunday at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. It was a rain-hit game, and India ended up winning the match by 7 wickets and chased down the target of 78 runs (DLS method) in just 6.3 overs and made 81/3.

With this win, the visitors have won the series and taken a 2-0 unassailable lead in the three-match series. India dominated the whole game, and bowlers did a clinical job first up to restrict Sri Lanka for a below-par total of 161/9. The game started with India winning the toss and deciding to bowl first. Sri Lanka had a great start, and they were 130/2 in the first 15 overs. But they had another collapse in their batting.

Yashasvi Jaiswal started with a four on the first ball after the delay and went on to play a blistering cameo of 30 runs off 15 balls, with three fours and two sixes at a strike rate of 200. However, with his innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal went on to achieve a special landmark. He became the first batter to score 1000 or more runs in 2024. The Southpaw has now scored 1023 runs in just 18 innings at an average of 63.93. He has also scored two centuries and five half-centuries this year.

Rohit Sharma is fourth on the list with 833 runs. Speaking of the game, for Sri Lanka, Kusal Perera scored 53 off 34 balls. Ravi Bishnoi bowled well for his 3/26 and won the Player of the Match award. Arshdeep Singh, Axar Patel, and Hardik Pandya also took two wickets each. The third and final game will be played on July 30 (Tuesday).
