India had a big challenge in the semifinals when they faced England in Guyana. It was a tough pitch, and the batting was not easy. That’s where the Indian captain played a pretty impactful innings, despite the failures of Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant. Rohit scored 57 runs off 39 balls, with six fours and two sixes, and added some good partnerships in the middle. India posted a target of 171/7 and bowled England out for just 103 to win by 68 runs.
2. Virat Kohli – 76 off 59 vs South Africa in the Final
Virat Kohli scored only 75 runs in seven matches before the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final against South Africa. He started aggressively, but then India suddenly lost three quick wickets, which pushed Virat to play an anchor knock. He completed a 48-ball fifty and then accelerated. Virat finished at 76 off 59 balls, with six fours and two sixes. India reached a decent total of 176/7. Eventually, the bowlers did a pretty good job and snatched the victory from the jaws of defeat, and India won by 7 runs. Virat was named Player of the Match for his gritty half-century.
1. Rohit Sharma – 92 off 41 vs Australia in Super 8
Not just in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, but overall, Rohit Sharma played one of the best counter-attacking innings against Australia in St. Lucia. After losing the toss, India batted first. India lost Virat Kohli early for a five-ball duck, but Rohit didn’t backup. He hit Mitchell Starc for 29 runs in the very next over and slammed a 19-ball fifty. Rohit kept hitting boundaries and scored 92 runs off 41 balls, which is the highest score for an Indian captain in T20 World Cups. India posted 205/5 and restricted Australia to 181/7 to win it by 24 runs.
