T20 World Cup 2024: New Zealand vs Uganda Match Results | Super 8 Teams: A superb bowling performance helped New Zealand beat Uganda by nine wickets in an ICC Men’s T20 World Cup match in Trinidad on Friday.
Left-arm bowler Trent Boult (2/7) set the tone with two wickets in the first over and his teammates supported him as Uganda were bowled out for just 40 in the final over after being asked to bat first by Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson.
And the Kiwis wasted no time in registering their first win of the tournament, as Devon Conway (22*) helped them reach the target with ease in the sixth over.
Tim Southee (3/4), Rachin Ravindra (2/9), and Mitchell Santner (2/8) picked up multiple wickets for the Black Caps, while Kenneth Waiswa (11) was the only Ugandan player to reach double figures with the bat.
The win moves New Zealand to third place in Group C but they are out of contention for a place in the Super Eights as Afghanistan and West Indies have already qualified.
It also ends Uganda’s tournament after the African nation won one of their four matches, beating Papua New Guinea earlier this month.
