Here's a round up of the recent updates related to the Indian T20 squad

The Indian Cricket Team’s selection panel headed by pacer Chetan Sharma is expected to have a meeting on Wednesday, to pick the squad for the marquee T20 World Cup. The event is beginning on the 17th of October and India will be starting its campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on the 24th of October. With India having several options on the plate, it is going to be a tough task for the selectors. Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri are expected to be a part of video conferencing. 

Shardul Thakur in T20 Squad: – 

A more prominent name that is expected to be in this T20 World Cup squad is Shardul Thakur. Shardul if selected will play the role of the pace-bowling all-rounder. With concerns over Hardik Pandya’s bowling fitness and current form, Shardul will be a good option. He has shown his batting capabilities in the recent test matches against England and his technique gives assurance that he can bat well. Shardul with his batting abilities stands a better chance than his IPL teammate Deepak Chahar. 

Shreyas Iyer in T20 Squad: – 

After sustaining the injury, Shreyas had to undergo a surgery on the 8th of April this year!

Iyer too will be making a comeback to the squad after facing a shoulder injury in the home series against England. Shreyas, since the injury, has been out of action and also missed the IPL but he has done enough to guarantee him a spot. Iyer is a dependable number 4 and helped India solving the long-standing number 4 debate. In the matches he played against England, Iyer batted well and scored a 50 in the first game. He averages around 30 at a strike rate of 135. 

Washington Sundar injury update: – 

Sundar, who had taken a blow during the practice match against England Lions last month has been ruled out of the IPL. He has suffered an impending finger injury as reported by the official handle of RCB. With questions on Washington Sundar’s fitness, there is also a question on who will replace him. Some reports also suggest that Ravi Ashwin has an outside chance of replacing Sundar. 

Indian Squad for T20 World Cup: – 

With the support staff team of the India squad going up to 16-17 members at times, there is a question on how many players will board the flight to UAE.
