Praveen was definitely not amongst the front runners to get India a medal as only a few media outlets had reported about him. But Praveen has overcome all these odds to reign supreme. Praveen was one of the 7 Paralympic High Jumpers to qualify for the final of this event. His opposition included Britain’s J Broom-Edwards, Polish Lepiato, and Japanese T. Suzuki. The other athletes were from Venezuela, Brazil, and Uzbekistan. The event began in the early hours of the day in India.

While winning the medal, Praveen has also broken the Asian Record in his event!

Like every other event at the field games, every athlete was given 6 attempts at their skill. Praveen began his journey on a high note. He cleared the 1.97m, 2.01m, 2.04m, and 2.07m marks with absolute ease. His last attempt at 2.07m was more than enough for him to secure silver. Praveen was outperformed by the British athlete, Edwards. Edwards jumped over the 2.10m marks to get the bright gold! The Polish athlete stood 3rd with a jump of 2.04m.
