India vs Sri Lanka 3rd ODI: We all know by now that the ODI World Cup 2023 will be held in All nations are looking forward to touring India before the most prestigious cricket tournament later this year to experience the playing conditions there. The first team to do so is none other than the subcontinental neighbours Sri Lanka, who are touring India for a 3-match India vs Sri Lanka T20I series and a significant 3-match ODI series.
The series started with an amazing T20I series consisting of three roller-coaster games of cricket. Though the series ended with the much-expected result of a 2-1 win in India’s favor, it still showed us some resilient performances from both teams, India and Sri Lanka. Following a fantastic T20 series, both teams will be looking forward to the ODI series and will be paying closer attention to it due to the upcoming World Cup in 2023.
The first ODI witnessed the return to form of the Indian skipper and a stunning overall performance from Gill, Kohli, and the bowling department. After an easy win in the first ODI, India entered the arena at Eden with great confidence. Rohit’s men stood very strong in the first half of the game, where Kuldeep (3-51) and Umran (2-48) seemed to break the back of the Lankan batters, along with eminent contributions from Siraj and Axar.
However, the Lankans also didn’t lay their hands down in the second innings and troubled the Indian batters until Rahul and Pandya put up some sort of resistance to the Lankan attack, and later Axar and Rahul put on a short partnership, while it was KL Rahul who took India home with his long-standing, firm innings of 64 runs.
India vs Sri Lanka 3rd ODI: Prediction
The third ODI will be played at the Greenfield stadium in Trivandrum, Kerala, on a pitch that will be unfamiliar even to the Indian players. The ODI series is unique in that the first ODI saw batters roar while the second ODI was a bowling masterclass. Now, Rohit and Co. will look to finish the series on a dominant note when the action shifts to Thiruvananthapuram, while the visitors will look to bounce back and claim a consolation win before they head home.
The third match, however, would not be as exciting because team India had already won the first two matches, securing the series, but they would be looking for a clean sweep and Sri Lanka would be doing everything they could to avoid it. However, India will put their new combination of players to the test in order to form the best squad possible for the 2023 CWC.
However, Sri Lanka will make changes to select their best set of players to play in Indian conditions so that they can compete in the cricket world cup later this year. Even with the changes, the Men in Blue would remain the favorites, even in the third Odi, over their opponents, who had previously shown no resistance.
India vs Sri Lanka 3rd ODI: Fantasy Team
Even the fantasy team for the 3rd ODI would feature more Indian players after their breathtaking performance in the 1st ODI, but some Lankans have also outclassed the masterclass of Indian players. Despite a balanced performance in the second ODI, the Indians will contribute more to the fantasy side in the third ODI.
A fantasy team would look something like this: Rohit Sharma ( C ), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul ( WK), Hardik Pandya, Dasun Shanaka, Wanindu Hasaranga, Mohammad Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Umran Malik
India vs Sri Lanka 3rd ODI: Injury Update
The first 2 ODI’s were a thrilling encounter between the 2 teams and all the players from both sides gave their 100% to the game. Despite desperate and selfless efforts on the field, none of the players faced any kind of mechanical injury during both the ODIs and thus has no other injury updates other than an already informed update of Jasprit Bumrah’s injury who is said to need more time to build bowling resilience and the Sri Lankan opening batter Pathum Nissanka suffered a shoulder injury which ruled him out of the 2nd ODI and probably the 3rd one too.
India vs Sri Lanka 3rd ODI: Pitch Report
The 3rd ODI is to be played at the Greenfield stadium in Trivandrum, which is on the southern coast of India, and the plus point is that the weather doesn’t play spoilsport in the game. Though not many international matches have been played on the Trivandrum pitch, the general domestic matches give us an idea that the Trivandrum stadium has shorter boundaries but a bowler-friendly pitch. This is a low-scoring ground, with the toss again playing a vital role as the maximum amount of success came from chasing a total. Bowling first will lead any team to victory.
