VVS Laxman is appointed as the head coach for the Asia Cup with immediate effect: Rahul Dravid will not be present in the Asia Cup tournament due to a corona infection on the Zimbabwe tour before the start of the Asia Cup. The Indian Cricket Board has appointed VVS Laxman as the head coach for the Asia Cup with immediate effect.
Asia Cup to be held in UAE, team India will play under the supervision of Head Coach VVS Laxman, if Rahul Dravid has a negative result in the corona inspection, then he can also join in the middle of the game.
VVS Laxman has played the role of head coach in the past during India’s limited-overs tour of Ireland and most recently against Zimbabwe.
JAY SHAH, Honorary Secretary of BCCI wrote, “Mr. VVS Laxman, Head Cricket, NCA will be the interim Head Coach for Team India (Senior Men) for the upcoming ACC Asia Cup 2022, to be played in the UAE. Mr. Laxman, who traveled with the Indian team that played the ODI series in Zimbabwe will oversee the team’s preparation in the absence of Mr.
Rahul Dravid who tested positive for COVID-19 before the team’s departure to the UAE. Mr. Dravid will join the team once he tests negative and is cleared by the BCCI Medical Team. Mr. Laxman has linked up with the squad in Dubai, along with vice-captain Mr. KL Rahul, Mr. Deepak Hooda, and Mr. Avesh Khan, who traveled from Harare.”
