ICC ODI World Cup Qualifiers 2023: Wanindu Hasaranga became the first spinner in the world who took three consecutive five wickets hauls in One Day Internationals (ODIs). In the history of cricket, Hasranga became the second bowler who took three consecutive five-wicket hauls.

Hasaranga made Sri Lanka nearer to World Cup Qualification. Currently, Hasaranga holds the highest number of wickets in the ICC World Cup Qualifier 2023. Sri Lankan Spinner created history with his tremendous bowling performance in the ICC World Cup Qualifiers 2023.

Wanindu Hasaranga took 16 wickets at an average of 10.25 in three matches with an economy rate of 4.57. Magistic spell made Sri Lanka into the World Cup Qualifier Super Six. He took three consecutive five-wicket hauls in all three matches and became the first Sri Lankan to take three consecutive five-wicket hauls in ODIs. 

In the first match against United Arab Emirates (UAE), Wanindu Hasaranga took six wickets in his eight overs spell at an economy of 3.00. His performance with the ball and bat was outstanding. He scored 23* runs in just 12 balls and took six wickets in the second innings. Sri Lanka won the match by 175 runs.

The Player of the match, won by Wanindu Hasaranga for his exceptional performance. In the second match against Oman, Hasaranga took five-wicket hauls in his seven overs spell at an economy of 1.77. Hasarang helped Sri Lanka to win the match by ten wickets and was Player of the Match awards for his excellent bowling.

In the third match against Ireland, Hasaranga took five wickets in his ten overs spell at an economy of 7.90. With his magical spell, Hasaranga helped Sri Lanka to defeat Ireland in the 3rd Match of the CWC Qualifier by 133 runs at Queens Sports Club.

Dimuth Karunaratne knocked centuries in a crucial match against the strong side of Ireland. He scored 103 runs in just 103 balls, including eight fours. After taking the wicket of Joshua Little, Hasranga made history and became the second player in the world who took three consecutive five-wicket hauls after Waqar Younis.
