The Indian fast bowler was released from the team ahead of the second Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series: Fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat has been released from the Indian team for the upcoming Delhi Test starting on 17 February. The decision was taken by the All India Senior Selection Committee in consultation with the Indian team management.

Unadkat will now join the Saurashtra team that has qualified for the Ranji Trophy final against Bengal to be played at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Saurashtra qualified for the final after defeating Karnataka by four wickets in the Ranji semi-final at Bengaluru.

The left-arm pacer is the captain of Saurashtra and led them to a successful Ranji campaign during the 2019/20 season. Incidentally, that final was also played against Bengal. For the next match, Indian fast bowlers Mohammad Shami, Mohammad Siraj and Umesh Yadav will be available as fast bowlers in the team.

India won the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy by an innings and 132 runs.
