IND vs AUS 4th Test: Another day went in favor of the hosts in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. At one stage, India were controlling well, but eventually, they gave the momentum away in the last half an hour of the day’s play. India finished the second day at 164/5, which could easily be 164/2.
India are still trailing behind 310 runs to Australia‘s first innings score. There still need another 111 more runs to avoid the follow-on. The visitors have been consistently under pressure after the win in the first game. The biggest reason for them is their vulnerable batting. But the bowlers also haven’t done much.
Jasprit Bumrah, who is at the peak of his career, has taken 25 wickets in the series, but he hasn’t had much support from the other Indian bowlers. That’s what Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar points out. He even urged including Prasidh Krishna and Harshit Rana in the fifth and final test, replacing Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj.

Bumrah has taken most wickets in the series. He has 25 wickets at an average of 13.12. The second highest wicket-taker for India is Siraj. He has 13 wickets at a higher average of 33.31. Siraj went for 122 runs in his 23 overs in the first innings and didn’t take any wickets. After the stumps on Day 2, Gavaskar highlighted that the management should tell Siraj that he is not performing.
In a discussion on Star Sports, Gavaskar even said that even Akashdeep hasn’t done well with what was expected from here. The Indian legend said that the team should talk to these pacers as they are not able to perform in these seamers’ friendly conditions. So they should tell them that they might get dropped so that they can try hard.
He went on to say that India should look to include Harshit and Praside for the final match. Siraj looked toothless in the first innings, which put pressure on Bumrah. India are currently under big pressure as they need to win this game. If they lose, they might lose the BGT title and also a place in the final of the World Test Championship 2023-25.
Speaking of the ongoing IND vs AUS 4th Test, India will be hoping that the batters can do well on Day 3 and firstly avoid the follow-on. Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja are currently on the surface, and India are hoping for some miracle from the lower order.
