Indian star Navdeep Singh picked Rohit Sharma instead of Virat Kohli or MS Dhoni as his all-time favourite cricketer.
India had their best-ever Paralympic campaign in the history of the tournament, as this also turned the nation’s best-ever performance in a multi-sport event. They had an Olympic event in Paris where they won 6 medals with no gold this time around.
However, in the Paralympics, India finished 18th on the medal tally with a record win of 29 Paralympic medals, of which 7 have been gold medals. Starting with Avani Lekhara, who won the first gold in the shooting event, the tally ended as Navdeep Singh earned India their final gold in the javelin throw.
Since then, he has been a star in the country, as he has been rewarded by the Prime Minister as well. In a recent interview with Subhankar Mishra on his podcast over YouTube, Navdeep was asked by the presenter who among MS Dhoni or Virat Kohli is his favorite cricketer.
To this, he responded with a very different reply, as he had someone else in his mind. The Paralympian Gold Medalist picked Indian skipper Rohit Sharma as his favorite cricketer.
The 23-year-old reminds the presenter of Rohit’s stunning double-ton against Australia, and then the next one followed against Sri Lanka, where he scored 264 runs. It was since then that Sharma has been his best-marked sportsman and favorite cricketer.
Rohit Sharma, now 37 years old, is in the form of his life, as he has 7 centuries and 9 fifties in the WTC alone, emerging as India’s best batter. Also placed second in the ICC’s ODI rankings, he is the current best for India, even surpassing the likes of the legend Virat Kohli.

Navdeep spoke about how inspiring Rohit has been as a sportsman. Rohit Sharma also led India to their 2nd T20 World Cup title in 2024, following a 17-year-long drought in the tournament.
Rohit Sharma is now preparing for the upcoming hectic test schedule alongside his fellow teammates at Chepauk before the red ball action resumes against Bangladesh on the 19th of this month.
