Mohd. Hafeez named as new Team Director of Pakistan After Shaheen Afridi and Shan Masood named New Captain of Pakistan Men’s Cricket Team: After having a poor performance in the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023, Babar Azam stepped down as Captain of Pakistan Men’s Cricket Team, and now, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Shan Masood will lead the team.

Shaheen Shah Afridi is named the captain of Pakistan Men’s T20I Cricket Team, whereas Shan Masood is named the captain of Pakistan Men’s Test Cricket Team. The ODI Captain is yet to be announced, as there will be no matches in the upcoming few weeks.

Pakistan Cricket Board made significant changes as they announced Mohd. Hafeez is the new team’s Director. Morne Morkel resigned from the Pakistan Men’s Cricket Team Fast Bowling Coach just after the World Cup 2023 Group Stage.

Pakistan’s Performance in the World Cup 2023 Group Stage:

Pakistan started their tournament with a victory against Sri Lanka at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad, by six wickets. Pakistan played exceptional cricket in this match and was expected to perform better in the upcoming games and will give good competition to others, but things get different for them.

After this match, they lost their second match of World Cup 2023 against Team India at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad by seven wickets. Pakistani players failed to perform well against the Indian team and hence lost the match, whereas Indian players played dominant cricket throughout the game.

Then, Pakistan lost three more games against Australia, Afghanistan, and South Africa. Pakistan’s failure against Afghanistan in ODI cricket shows how their players are performing for the team in this tournament. At this stage, Pakistan played five games, out of which they could only win a single match.

Shaheen Afridi Performed well but still Pakistan failed:

Then, Pakistan won two consecutive matches against Bangladesh and New Zealand and made themself in the semi-final race, but they failed to win the last game against England. Pakistan’s journey for World Cup 2023 ended when England defeated them by 93 runs.
