Indian wicket-keeper, KL Rahul reflected on his time with the IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), sharing that his return to the Karnataka-based team in 2016 could have been a standout period. Rahul admitted that athletic pursuits don’t always bring the expected results, even with maximum effort. He highlighted his dedication to ongoing improvement and adaptability.

Making his IPL debut for RCB in 2013, Rahul only appeared in four matches for the team and batted twice before being picked up by Sunrisers Hyderabad ahead of the 2014 season.

In the 2016 season, Royal Challengers Bangalore reached the finals of the league but lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad in a one-sided encounter.
In an interview with Star Sports, KL Rahul stated,

“In 2016, when I went back to RCB, it could have been a fairytale story, most enjoyed playing at RCB. Bangalore is home & people there know me as a local Kannada Boy.”


The Indian batter has been released by his previous franchise, Lucknow Super Giants and would be looking forward to get a great amount of money in 2025 IPL auction.

Every RCB fan is highly anticipating KL Rahul’s arrival to his first side for whom he made his debut back in the 2013 IPL edition. This would be of remarkable excitement to the squad. Also, his homecoming will a positive stir in RCB’s urge for their maiden IPL title.

Indian cricketer, KL Rahul finally addressed his departure from Lucknow Super Giants, explaining that he wanted to explore new opportunities and join a team where he could play with greater freedom.

He stated, “I wanted to start fresh, I wanted to explore my options and I wanted to go and play where I could find some freedom. The team atmosphere would be lighter, sometimes you just need to move away and find something good for yourself”.

Rahul shared that he’s been away from the T20 team for some time, but he knows what he needs to do to return. He’s looking forward to using this IPL season as a chance to enjoy his game again and work towards his goal of rejoining the Indian T20 team.
