IND vs AUS: India went on to hamper their WTC campaign largely owing to their loss in the Adelaide pink-ball test; however, the focus of fans has been on the heated exchange between Travis Head and Indian speedster Mohammad Siraj. Head was the difference in the game as he counter-attacked and smashed the Indian bowlers to all parts of the ground in the first inning. He scored 140 runs off 141 balls.
However, when Siraj castled his stumps, he gave him a wild send-off. There were a few expletives used and exchanged. At the end of Day 2, Head expressed his unhappiness with Siraj’s actions and stated that he complimented Siraj for the delivery, but the bowler took it the other way. At the start of Day 3, Siraj said that it was completely a lie from Head, and he, as an Indian cricketer, respects everyone.
Rohit Sharma talks about the war of words between Travis Head and Mohammed Siraj
At the end of the match, Indian captain, Rohit Sharma talked about the incident in the post-match press conference. He stated that there is a small difference between aggression and over-aggression. He also talked about his responsibility to control the events as a captain. However, he does feel that there can be some verbal exchanges in the heat of the moment when sides like India and Australia face each other. The third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be held on 14th December in Brisbane.
“There is a thin line between getting aggressive and over-aggressive. It is my job as captain to see that no one crosses the line. But a few words can be exchanged. Siraj knows what he needs to do for the team and he will do everything required,”
Rohit said while speaking at the post-match press conference
