ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024 Schedule: The 15th edition of the ICC U19 World Cup is scheduled to begin on January 19, 2024. South Africa earned the rights to host the tournament and replaced Sri Lanka, which was previously scheduled to host the tournament.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) suspended Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 due to political interference and South Africa got the chance to host the U19 World Cup for the third time.
A total of 48 matches will be played between 16 teams in the tournament lasting 23 days. India is the most successful team in the history of the tournament and has won 5 editions of the U19 World Cup.

India will also enter the upcoming mega youth event as defending champions and hot-favourites. India won the U19 World Cup 2022 in West Indies by defeating England in the final.
The 16 teams are divided into groups of four each, where the top three teams from each group will qualify for the Super 6 stage. The Super 6 round will be further divided into two groups, with each group consisting of six teams.
The top three teams from Groups A and D will qualify for Group 1 and teams from Groups B and C will qualify for Group 2. The top 2 teams in each Super 6 group will play in the semi-finals.

ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Format
The event will welcome a new format for this edition, where the three teams that advance from each of the four groups will enter a new Super Six stage starting on January 30. Two groups of six teams will face each other to determine the semi-finalists and subsequent finalists.
The bottom placed teams will then meet in placement games to determine the final positions 13 to 16. This will be the third time that South Africa has hosted the Under-19 World Cup – after the previous editions in 1998 and 2020. All teams will play two practice matches in South Africa between 13th and 17th January.
ICC Men’s U 19 World Cup 2024 Key Dates
Group A and Group B action begins on the 19 January opening day, with Ireland meeting the USA in Bloemfontein, and the hosts meeting the West Indies in Potchefstroom.
Group D’s opening match (Afghanistan v Pakistan) will be played out on 20 January in East London, while Group C, based in Kimberley, begins on 21 January. Sri Lanka meet Zimbabwe to open group action.
Attention then turns to the Super Six stage from 30 January, with the top three teams from Groups A and D put together with the top three of Groups B and D. The teams play two matches in this phase, and avoid the team that finished in the corresponding position in the other group.
For example, the top finisher in Group A play the second and third teams in Group D. Semi-finals begin on 6 February, with the final on 11 February. Both semi-finals and the final will be held at Willowmoore Park in Benoni.
