IND vs AUS: Pat Cummins, the Aussie skipper, has made his outlook quite engaging, as he assured all of us of in-form Travis Head and Mitchell Starc’s availability and fitness ahead of the decisive Boxing Day test.
Travis Head, the only player who went on to score 400 runs in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy with an average of 100 at a strike rate of 95, also scoring 2 hundreds. Head, after the second innings, did not take the field during India’s brief second innings chase at the Gabba.
Early claims speculated that Travis Head suffered a strain to his groin; however, the Cricket Australia spokesperson has denied these speculations.
When Pat Cummins faced the press in the post-match session, he assured, “Trav, he’ll be fine; it’s a bit of a tight quad; he’ll be fine for Melbourne.”
While Travis Head was again picked as the Player of the Match in the third test for his heroic first innings of 152 runs scored against India at the Gabba. Head said to Shastri during the presentation that it’s only due to the workload; he will be fine until the next game.
Josh Hazlewood has already been ruled out from the remainder of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, and Scott Boland is likely to replace him for the upcoming Boxing Day test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Mitchell Starc, who shared most of the overs alongside skipper Cummins due to the absence of the frontline pacer Josh Hazlewood, has also been facing immense workload; however, the skipper even assured him of his availability for the next match in the BGT.
Nathan McSweeney’s poor form over the three matches will find him under scrutiny; however, with the lack of options in the Australian batting order, only players like Beau Webster might be included in the side if Mitchell Marsh is promoted at the top of the order.
